Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your personal data within the Shield-Cloud project, dedicated to the study of Cumulonimbus cloud formation and their radiative effects on the local climate.

What data we collect and why

We only collect data that you voluntarily provide through contact forms: your name, email address, phone number, and the content of your message. This information is necessary to respond to inquiries related to our scientific articles, meteorological observations, or educational collaborations. Additionally, our server automatically records your IP address, browser type, and operating system, exclusively for security and technical diagnostic purposes.

Cookies and tracking technologies

We use strictly necessary cookies for the proper functioning of the site (e.g., for sessions and language preferences). We do not use advertising or behavioral tracking cookies. An analytical cookie (Google Analytics) may be activated only with your explicit consent, to understand which pages are most read and how we can improve educational content. You can refuse analytical cookies at any time through your browser settings.

Legal basis and purpose of processing

We process data based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in responding to requests and improving educational resources (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The data is not used for profiling, automated marketing, or automated decisions. We do not sell, rent, or share data with third parties for commercial purposes.

Data storage and security

Data is stored on secure servers located within the European Union, with access restricted to authorized personnel only. We retain contact data for the duration necessary to resolve the request, but no longer than 12 months from the last communication. Technical data (access logs) is retained for a maximum of 6 months. We implement standard technical and organizational measures to prevent unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure of data.

Your rights

In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to request access to your personal data, rectification, erasure ("right to be forgotten"), restriction of processing, data portability, and withdrawal of consent at any time. To exercise these rights, you can contact us at info@shield-cloud.com or by mail at Aleea Făget no. 8/4, bl. 58, et. 83, ap. 37. We will respond within a maximum of 30 days.

Disclosure to third parties

We do not transfer your data to third parties, except as required by law (e.g., upon request from judicial authorities) or to technical service providers (web hosting, email services) who act as data processors and are contractually obligated to adhere to the same privacy standards. All our processors are established within the European Economic Area.
